Abstract

This study examines social justice in the workplace from the perspective of Islamic ethics, focusing on how the values of 'adl (justice), amanah (trustworthiness), and ihsan (moral excellence) can be conceptually distinguished while being integrated as the foundation of workers' rights. The purpose of this study is to analyze the principles of Islamic social justice and formulate strategies for their application in human resource management. The method used is a descriptive-qualitative library research design on 20 primary and secondary sources including the Qur'an, tafsir studies, and accredited journal articles from 2011-2024 selected based on thematic relevance and publisher credibility, then analyzed using content-analysis techniques. The main findings show that social justice remains unrealized in many workplaces, marked by discrimination, wage inequality, and weak worker protection, while 'adl, amanah, and ihsan are theoretically shown to foster intrinsic motivation, job satisfaction, and reduced counterproductive behavior. The implication is the need to integrate maqashid al-shariah principles into recruitment, evaluation, and compensation policy, supported by leadership grounded in shiddiq, amanah, fathanah, and tabligh. The study's originality lies in explicitly differentiating 'adl, amanah, and ihsan and linking them directly to contemporary workers' rights, an emphasis rarely made explicit in prior studies on Islamic work ethics.
